Buttermilk Waffles

A classic waffle recipe.

This waffle recipe is buttery and delicious. The texture of the waffles should be lightly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect for Saturday morning or even a weeknight breakfast for dinner.


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups buttermilk
  • 8 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. Melt 8 tablespoons of butter and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients.
  4. In a smaller bowl whisk the eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla. Once fully incorporated add in the melted butter.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until combined.
  6. Scoop the batter into the heated waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown.
  7. Serve with desired toppings and enjoy!
